Travel inspiration in Venice and Rome
Your travel by train from Venice to Rome
Trenitalia’s high speed Frecce (Arrow) trains take travellers between Venice and Rome in around four hours. The super-fast Italian domestic trains offer a comfortable way to travel across Italy with spacious carriages. There are two classes on board and First class passengers get a welcome drink served in seat. There is a buffet car too and on some services there is a restaurant serving three course meals.
Venice has two stations both serving Italian domestic trains and international connections, Venezia Mestre and Santa Lucia. Rome station is in the centre of the city at Piazza dei Cinquecento and is the capital’s main hub for buses, trains, trams and the city’s two metro lines. There’s an express train running frequently to the airport and with 600 trains using the station each day there are plenty of connections to some of the most popular destinations in Italy and abroad.
Point to point tickets are great for passengers travelling between the two cities but if the plan is to explore more of Italy, then travellers can jump on and off Trenitalia’s network of trains with a Eurail Italy Pass. Several regional and international rail passes are also available.
