Travel inspiration in Prague and Vienna

Your travel by train from Prague to Vienna

The international EuroCity trains take travellers between Prague and Vienna in just under five hours. The trains offer two classes of service on board and passengers in standard class enjoy spacious comfortable seats and refreshments from the buffet car. First class passengers can relax in their seats while enjoying the countryside.

Prague’s main station is Praha Hlavni Nadrazi and it is five minutes’ walk from busy Wenceslas Square or fifteen from the Old Town. It’s the biggest station in the Czech Republic. Vienna’s Wien Meidling station is well connected to public transport on line U6 of the subway, Tram 62 and several buses including a direct bus to the airport some 24 km away. Onward travel throughout Europe is also easy from this busy hub including trains to Hungary and Germany.

Travellers heading from Prague to Vienna can get a point to point ticket but for further adventures in Europe there are other options. To see more of the country around Prague there’s a Czech Republic Pass, the European East Pass or a Eurail Select Pass offers passengers train travel in five bordering countries.

Visit Vienna and discover other popular train journeys

Vienna offers visitors classic architecture, opera, restaurants and shopping, as well as streets packed with history and art. The main sights include Belvedere, which is home to the world’s largest Gustav Klimt collection and The Kiss, the Hapsburg’s stunning primrose Schonbrunn Palace, the Spanish Riding School with the famous Lippizan horses, lovely little cafes serving up traditional Sacher Tortes and tours of Harry Lime’s footsteps in The Third Man.

From Prague train travellers can explore the Czech Republic with a rail pass or head abroad to Hungary’s Budapest, or Italy’s Venice or Germany’s Munich for more exciting train adventures.
