Travel inspiration in Lourdes and Bordeaux
Lourdes
Lourdes, the Marian city
Lourdes is a small town located in southern France. It is a world renowned place and a pilgrimage site for Christians. In 19th century a small local girl claimed that a lady appeared to her in a Grotto and the later told her that she was the Immaculate Conception. The faithful ones believed she was the Virgin Mary. Since that time, Lourdes has become a place of spirituality surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Indeed, Lourdes can be the ideal starting point to visit the Pyrenees Mountains. The Lourdes railway station is less than 1km from the sanctuaries of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux, gateway to vineyards
Bordeaux is located in the heart of the Aquitaine region and is only 3 hours away by TGV from Paris. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, it is the epicurean French destination par excellence. Bordeaux has over a hundred thousand hectares of vineyards and 10,000 grape growers. The city produces large quantities as well as some of the most expensive wines in the world. From Bordeaux, you can take the train to Saint Emilion, one of the world’s most famous vineyards, or opt for a guided tour in a vineyard to taste one of the famous vintage wines of Margaux, Pauillac or Saint-Julien.
