Travellers visiting Avignon and Paris enjoy the high speed TGV trains which serve the two cities between two and three hours. Travelling from the heart of the medieval town to the elegant capital city, France’s flagship TGV trains reach speeds of up to 320 km/h, and on board carriages are spacious and comfortable. A buffet car offers hot and cold refreshments.
Avignon main train station can be reach by bus that departs every 15 minutes. Bus 4 takes visitors between the station and the town centre. Paris Gare de Lyon is easily accessed by public transport. The station is in the centre of the city and has connections to the metro, buses and the RER. SNCF has many onward connections across the country and the TGV Lyria takes passengers to Switzerland and other destinations in eastern France.
Between Avignon and Paris on the TGV passengers can opt for a point to point ticket, but for those who want to explore more of France the France Rail Pass is the best option. For travel to other countries there are several regional passes worth checking out.
