Travel inspiration in Zurich and Amsterdam
Zürich, the largest city of Switzerland
Zürich is a major financial centre and one of the most preferred Swiss destinations. In 2012, it was voted as the best city to live in Europe. It is an elegant metropolis on the lake bearing its name, with views over the snow-covered Alps, home to over 50 museums, 100 galleries, top hotels, shops and restaurants. Obviously it has to be Zürich! With its excellent public transport connections, this prime Swiss destination is ideal for excursions to the rest of the country. 5 days there, and you will get to know all about Zürich and neighbouring towns.
Amsterdam, capital city of the Netherlands
Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, is located in the province of North Holland. The city got its name from a dam in the river Amstel and was a small fishing village at its creation. Nowadays Amsterdam is a busy seaport and one of the top European financial centres as well as a major cultural hub. The canals, world-famous museums and historical sights makes Amsterdam one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, nightlife, restaurants with international cuisine, good transport system. However, the city has also a quiet and relaxed atmosphere largely thanks to its extensive canals, low road traffic, small green parks and flower fields. In Amsterdam, places of interest are never far away, get a bike or hop on a tram for an authentic local experience. Amsterdam can be reached easily by train from other European capitals - Paris, London or Brussels.
Reviews & ratings Zurich - Amsterdam
It would have been better to club passengers based on their embarking and disembarking stations. 1. We had passengers coming in at intermediate stations in the middle of our sleep, thereby disturbing a restful night. 2. Our train was halted at Mannheim at 5 am, and we were abruptly told to disembark and catch a connecting train from Berlin — all within 10 minutes. 3. The announcements and advice were in German and queries put forward were not understood by the staff. 4. The Inspector of the next train couldn't understand a word of english, and we were lucky that another passenger explained that the compartment that we had got onto would go only till Basel, and that we needed to change our compartment 5. All these together made out night totally messed up. 6. This might have been a one off issue, but hopefully my comments may help to cater to offset such situations in future
This was simply the best train experience, what a comfort! Train officers were very polite and friendly, bathrooms were very clean.
