Travel inspiration in Zurich and Amsterdam
Zürich, the largest city of Switzerland
Zürich is a major financial centre and one of the most preferred Swiss destinations. In 2012, it was voted as the best city to live in Europe. It is an elegant metropolis on the lake bearing its name, with views over the snow-covered Alps, home to over 50 museums, 100 galleries, top hotels, shops and restaurants. Obviously it has to be Zürich! With its excellent public transport connections, this prime Swiss destination is ideal for excursions to the rest of the country. 5 days there, and you will get to know all about Zürich and neighbouring towns.
Amsterdam, capital city of the Netherlands
Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, is located in the province of North Holland. The city got its name from a dam in the river Amstel and was a small fishing village at its creation. Nowadays Amsterdam is a busy seaport and one of the top European financial centres as well as a major cultural hub. The canals, world-famous museums and historical sights makes Amsterdam one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, nightlife, restaurants with international cuisine, good transport system. However, the city has also a quiet and relaxed atmosphere largely thanks to its extensive canals, low road traffic, small green parks and flower fields. In Amsterdam, places of interest are never far away, get a bike or hop on a tram for an authentic local experience. Amsterdam can be reached easily by train from other European capitals - Paris, London or Brussels.

"Amsterdam to Copenhagen"Vicki p.
Travelled first class sleeper - though on the train did not appear a lot of difference to a second class sleeper. There was not much room for large luggage as it would not slide under the lower bed. Everything was fine, used the shower in the morning which was great to arrive refreshed. Bed was comfortable though pillow was very small, but was able to access a second one. Slept very well throughout the night, although shared control of air con in the twin sleeper meant I was very hot. Sharing is luck of the drawer, my companion was fine. Slight delay to commencing journey, but we were kit informed, and we arrived in the morning well refreshed. Great to wake up with views of the Danish country side. Overall a very good journey.
"Nice experience"Delfina María e. 19/04/2014
It was a fast and confortable way to get to Zurich, also the train departure and arrival was on time. The issue to improve is that we were carrying big luggage so we had to leave it in the entrance of the wagon and they didn't put anything to identify them. Anyone from the staff was there to help.
"Journey was comfortable"Md. Nazmul Hossain c. 19/04/2014
Travel from Zurich to Paris was very comfortable. Food in the train was also very good. Altogether it was a nice experience.
"Amsterdam to Paris train"Noor Soffalina s. 16/04/2014
The train arrived on time. Staffs at the train station checked if everybody have the right tickets, and usher them to the correct area on the platform based on your carriage number. So you dont have to run all the way back if your seat is at the last carriage. However, they should have advise us earlier what to so with big luggage. We only know afterwards that we should take another door which have the bag storage racks. We got our seat and the train starts departing Amsterdam CS. After a while, announcement was made that the cafe was open. Since we didnt have breakfast, we went there to buy some food. We had to wait quite a while, the staff wasnt even ready. upon returning to our seats, we were surprise to find people in our seats. After a while, we figured out that we had the correct seat number but wrong carriage number. That was super confusing! There is no where in the train to know which carriage number it is. And every carriage has the same seat number?? It would be beneficial to have those clearly written. As the train make stops along the way to take passengers, so once you are in your seat, do not think it's definitely yours, you might get it wrong like us.

It was a great journey. No problems at all…. the reservation was correct and I did nothing to board my train. Service was great and it was a very pleasant journey! Thanks for being an option for me to buy this ticket!
"Amsterdam to Paris"Kunal s. 04/12/2013
Trip was nice with train leaving and arriving on time. However, they could do better by providing WiFi access in Second class. Book early and you may get First Class at the price of Second Class.

"Comfortable train ride"Nurhuda Binte j. 25/11/2013
It was the first time taking Thalys from Amsterdam to Paris and it was a nice experience. It was comfortable. Since we booked our tickets in advanced, it was value for money and we were allocated to seats that we wanted.
"Excellent scenery"Kazunori k. 20/11/2013
It was a nice journy from Milan to Zurich and train staff was very familiar. More cleanliness is needed, for example full trash boxes.
"71 year old couple"Geoffrey d. 11/11/2013
The 9.34am from Zurich on a Friday was crowded but comfortable. Travelling at up to 199MPH, and punctual, it enabled us to travel from Zurich to Manchester in one day. Pretty good. We had come from Budapest to Vienna and Vienna to Zurich via the Arlberg pass earlier in the week with a full day in both Vienna and Zurich. Good hotels near the main stations. A great journey home by rail! Only East Coast let us down!

The whole experience of booking and then travelling with TGV Lyria has been fantastic. I will definitely use it again. Thank you.
