Zürich, the largest city of Switzerland
Zürich is a major financial centre and one of the most preferred Swiss destinations. In 2012, it was voted as the best city to live in Europe. It is an elegant metropolis on the lake bearing its name, with views over the snow-covered Alps, home to over 50 museums, 100 galleries, top hotels, shops and restaurants. Obviously it has to be Zürich! With its excellent public transport connections, this prime Swiss destination is ideal for excursions to the rest of the country. 5 days there, and you will get to know all about Zürich and neighbouring towns.
Reviews & ratings Salzburg - Zurich
Amazing countryside views, sit back and enjoy the sites in comfort.
Departure and arrival were right on time. Seats were comfortable. Our rail car was very clean. A perfect journey. George Baxter
It was a very smooth and comfortable ride from Zurich to Salzburg. I truly enjoyed the ride on the train overlooking the views of the alps and fields.
Love the view... this is a scenic train, but on my trip in this train there is a trouble with the train for 4 hours... the staff give us baverages, but hopely there was foods, at least breads or bdelay
It was a great train, slower than previous train from Paris Est to Stuttgart. We couldn't incline the seat because our seat attach to the wall. The journey was oke.
I travelled first class from Zurich to Salzburg, then from Salzburg to Vienna. The trains were on time, had clear announcements, and arrived on time. The only complaint I have is that for first class, the service was not great. A snippy woman came by to sell drinks — not even a bottle of water free — and she would not accept Swiss francs for the coffee I ordered, even though we were travelling through Switzerland. She insisted on Euros, which fortunately I happened to have. You can eat on the train, but if you don't want to pay their prices, you definitely need to bring along something to eat and drink. Also, first class does not suggest luxury. This is quite an ordinary first class. On the other hand, first class is not expensive by most countries' standards, and I thought the two rides were excellent value for money. Reliability is often an issue with trains, and this one was right on time all the way. Finally, it was easy to get to the train stations in central Zurich and Salzburg, and I got off at a station in Vienna where I could catch the subway to my hotel. Very convenient.
Though the ride was about 5 hours, it seemed like much shorter as the seat was comfortable plus the picturesque scenery, its quite a relaxing trip.
the journey from Zurich to Salzburg in the second class compartment was really comfortable with plenty of luggage space and the train arrived on time and the journey had spectacular views.
The train was punctal. In Zurich HB, the platform is only shown on screen 30min before the journey.
we enjoyed or trip from Salzburg to Zurich - we had a first class pass and would thoroughly recommend the extra money - ! But please note the seats we paid to be reserved were not reserved for us on any of our trips !
