Travel inspiration in Lille and Paris
Lille, the gateway to Northern France
Lille is an artistic and historic city located in Northern France. It is France’s 4th largest metropolitan area with about 1.1 million inhabitants and about 100,000 students. In 2004, it was designated as the European Capital of Culture. Lille is at the crossroad of international railway network of Europe with easy access to Belgium and the UK. The city has a long-standing festive tradition. The famous Braderie in September is the main event for all shopping addicts. Lille is also regarded as the European capital of online retail with main brands such as La Redoute, Les 3 Suisses, Camaïeu, Castorama and Décathlon having stores in the city.
Paris, the capital of France
One of the world’s greatest cities, Paris! The capital of France is also known as the City of Light. This enchanting city, at the crossroads of cultures, is the capital of fashion and home to world highlights such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Avenue des Champs Elysées, to name but a few. In terms of architectural beauty, art history, events, gastronomy and sheer extravagance, Paris is a milestone ahead of any other city on earth. Paris has one of the world’s most extensive public transport systems. You can take a taxi if you are not much of an adventurer, but that would be a pity! Metro (subway or underground), buses and city bicycles are much more fun and are very easy to use, even for beginners.
Reviews & ratings Lille - Paris
"TGV to Lille"Lorraine b.
My granddaughter and I are from South Africa and had a most enjoyable and awe inspiring journey from Paris Nord to Lille. The purpose of our trip was to witness the finish of Stage 4 of the Tour de France. The journey was extremely comfortable and convenient in that we were then able to take a metro to the Pierre Maurroy stadium with plenty of time to spare. The rand\euro exchange rate is very poor but I still felt that it was worth every Euro I paid to be able to speed across France in such comfort to achieve our objective. The following day we had an equally good trip to CdG.

It was very good and very convenient but it would have been better if it was cheaper. The tickets that I have purchased for another travel from Paris to Lille three days before were much more cheaper.
"Scenic Trip to Lille"Ralph m. 07/07/2014
A brilliant rail network. The train arrived and departed on time. We had a very enjoyable, scenic ride from Paris to Lille in a clean, spacious carriage.
