Travel inspiration in Amsterdam and Munich
Amsterdam, capital city of the Netherlands
Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, is located in the province of North Holland. The city got its name from a dam in the river Amstel and was a small fishing village at its creation. Nowadays Amsterdam is a busy seaport and one of the top European financial centres as well as a major cultural hub. The canals, world-famous museums and historical sights makes Amsterdam one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, nightlife, restaurants with international cuisine, good transport system. However, the city has also a quiet and relaxed atmosphere largely thanks to its extensive canals, low road traffic, small green parks and flower fields. In Amsterdam, places of interest are never far away, get a bike or hop on a tram for an authentic local experience. Amsterdam can be reached easily by train from other European capitals - Paris, London or Brussels.
Munich is one of the most popular destination in Europe and Germany. The city is the capital of the Bavaria state. Munich is world known for its beer and the famous Oktoberfest. Home to the BMW Welt and the FC Bayern, Munich is a city with something for everyone! More than that, Munich is an important centre for art, culture and international affairs. The city is clean, safe and has an efficient transport system. Being an open and joyful city, Munich is a leisure paradise with a splendid view over the alps. Munich is easily reached by train from Paris, Berlin and Zurich.
Reviews & ratings Amsterdam - Munich
Thank you so much for an really enjoyable adventure. Seeing that this was our first time traveling by train in Europa it was a great experience. Traveling by City Night Line gave us time to relax and sleep well. Much better than flying.
This is the first time I travel by train in Europe. It is a very nice experience. The train is very clean and the cabin is very comfortable. The breakfast is also good.
Great deal for the price. However, the beds are a bit small.
Great and comfortable
the train was a little old and you couldn´t sit because the space between the beds is very small so you had to be laying the whole time even if you are not sleeping yet.
Couch was incredible small - felt a bit suffocated sharing with six people. Journey was generally very noisy - don't expect to get much sleep on this train. Highly convenient that the train stopped at Utrecht. Timing was good too. Very accessible journey, just not at all comfortable.
As a couple, I would have expected getting a nicer cabin for my husband and myself without having to upgrade to a better class. Why can't we book 2 people in a cabin of 3? It was the same price
although i don't mind the setup of 6 pax with single beds dorm style, i wish there is an option of just taking a seat through the overnight destination ( like on the plane). for me, that is more comfortable and safe.
better by two I think, 5 countries, missed trains, sleep overs, and cancelled trip for a flight instead on one occasion, but all in all for a first time train traveler it was worth it, and I could only do a better job next time.
There is little room for big pieces of luggage. I'm not sure why it's so expensive for such a short train ride, i paid less than half of what I paid for this for an overnight train but I guess this was at a convenient time of day.
Excellent value, you save money on accomodations by taking an overnight train. The pillow, sheet, and blanket were clean and adequate and I was lucky to get paired with nice roommates. There is plenty of room for luggage inside the sleeper, even my huge suitcase.
the comfort was not so good and the price for my view was too high for it, also the breakfast that in the ride there was really bad and not tasty at all, hay
It's a good experience to take the night train from munich to amsterdam. I picked the first class cabin. A small decent cabin was offered with a basin. It was quiet that I could have nice sleep. Simple washing was okay with the basin. The staff was nice. The breakfast was a bit simple.
Convenient and Comfort, Service in ticket office in main station are good. Searching the train timetable is very important to customer. Most of the customer need to go to information counter to check. Wasting time and there may have communication issue. I think the on line time table in ticket machine is very good. I think it is better to have some individual time table checking machine for guest in main station will be much more convienent to a new traveler for the city.
It was the second time I took a sleeper train with Rail Europe and it prove to be a good deal. Again I was able to pick my ticket up from the Singapore office branch which is useful as it provides me some comfort that my place on the train is secure. The space was smaller than the sleeper for the Amsterdam - Munich journey but sufficient for me to get a good night sleep. Would recommend to any traveler from Singapore to use the company's services.
