While you're there

Vienna is the capital city of Austria and home to approximately 1,6 million inhabitants. Vienna is the seat of many multinationals and is becoming more and more important as a centre for trade between Western and Eastern Europe. Vienna is also a city of green parks, calm, dreamy alleys, art and music. This city is rightly deemed a city worth living in, being a cosmopolitan city of culture and gastronomy.

There are numerous things to be done and to visit once in Vienna. Don’t miss the following landmarks: Saint Stephan’s cathedral, Austria’s most important building in Gothic Style; Burgtheater, the flagship of the 50 Viennese theatres and the oldest and one of the most influential theatres in the dramatic arts of the German speaking countries; the City Hall, the most important building in neo-Gothic style in the city; and the Imperial Palace, residence of the Habsburg emperors until 1918 and today its chapel is where the Vienna Boys’ Choir sings mass on Sundays and religious holidays.

When in Vienna it is a must to visit a typical Viennese coffeehouse. Relax and try a Melange (coffee with frothy milk) with a sweet flaky pastry with apples.

Some of the most popular streets for shopping are: Kärntner Straße, the most famous shopping street in Vienna. This street has the most expensive and exclusive shops in Vienna; Mariahilfer Straße, the longest shopping street in Vienna with small boutiques and big department stores, many snack-bars, cafés, old Viennese coffeehouses and restaurants.

  • "frankfurt here we go"
    Great time
  • "Sleeping in the couchettes "
Me and my boyfriend travelled in the couchettes and were allocated to the upper beds were there wasn't or at least we weren't informed if there were, any bedside protections, so the result is we ended up sleeping very poorly due to fear of falling and getting hurt from all the height. Luckily I was saved by an italian employee (female, don't remember the name) who let me stay in her sleeping compartment, me and some other people who weren't given reserved seats; she pretty much saved (partially) the night for all of us.
  • "Good train poor customer servi"
I was on the train from Budapest to Vienna in the café car. The train stopped short. My glasses went flying. I lost them. Since then I have called and emailed customer service. On 8 January I received an email asking for a picture of them. I sent it that day. I have not heard anything further and would very much like those glasses back. Other than this issue, the ride was pleasant and efficient.
  • "Internet connection"
The wifi was not working properly, the connection was not so good because i only had connection for about half an hour, and I was not able to use the brwoser, just a few apps were able to actually coonect to the internet. You shoul review your wifi service. Best regards, Danilo Souza
  • "From Vienna to Budapest"
The train was clean, the trip followed the previewed schedule, but the boarding was not organized (the information on the tickets wasn't precise, so we and other people boarded on the wrong vagon), so the train began to move with many people stood up. There was little space to acomodate the luggage of all passengers and many cases were put on the corridors and between the seats, making very difficult to walk during the trip. There were two different train stations in Budapest, but this information wasn't available by the time of booking, so we droped off the train at a bigger distance than we imagined, forcing us to take an alternative transport to the hotel.
  • "First Eurorail Travel"
It was my first travel by eurorail. everything was fine.
  • "Excellent Trip"
As planned and enjoyed the journey... Train was comforatable and food excellent
  • "Excelent value for the trip"
Travel time is ok. We got seats near the window and we have socket for our devices. The only minus is the seat. Its not very comfy to sleep if you are going to travel long.
  • "Good."
This was a nice train ride. Comfortable and not crowded.
  • "Satisfactory."
    Comfortable. Satisfactory.
  • "71 year old couple"
The 9.34am from Zurich on a Friday was crowded but comfortable. Travelling at up to 199MPH, and punctual, it enabled us to travel from Zurich to Manchester in one day. Pretty good. We had come from Budapest to Vienna and Vienna to Zurich via the Arlberg pass earlier in the week with a full day in both Vienna and Zurich. Good hotels near the main stations. A great journey home by rail! Only East Coast let us down!
  • "Vinod"
It as not that good and whole night people keep walking and couldn't sleep well.
  • "Budapest-Viena"
The trains station of BUDAPEST KELENFOE it is so poor, needs an extensive reform.
  • "Awesome"
    Punctual, comfort
  • "From Maribor to Vienna "
Clean, comfortable, punctual journey. Good timings. A bit on the costly side. 4 stars
