San Sebastian, a basque city that deserves the visit
The jewel in the Basque crown, San Sebastian sits regally on a crescent bay, surrounded by rolling hills. Gourmands flock to Spain’s culinary capital to sample its inventive tapas, fresh seafood and Michelin-starred meals, while fashionable visitors stroll along San Sebastian’s chi-chi beach promenade.
The old city houses some monuments that are worth the detour: the San Vicente gothic church, the Santa María del Coro baroque church and the old convent, today museum of San Telmo presenting interesting archaeological and ethnological collections.
Follow the living streets and reach the square of the Constitución, used originally as an arena. On the "Gros" beach, you can admire the modern architecture of the "Kursaal" (concert hall) , created by the architect Rafael Moneo . Don’t miss one of the main events of San Sebastian: the "Tamborrada".
You will discover the brass bands parading in the streets on January 19th and during 24 hours, lively atmosphere guaranteed

- "Thumbs Up on Train Experience" Teresa h. 08/10/2015
My train trip from San Sebastian to Barcelona was very comfortable and definitely value for money. Super efficient service. Highly recommended to take the train then fly. Thanks for a great experience :)

Comfortable trip. We slept the whole time and nothing bothered us.
- "Superbly efficient " . 25/07/2015
Brilliant way to travel, and 5stars in all facets of the trip. We rate Spanish trains very highly. Excellent!!!
- "Good train experience" Bernie p. 02/07/2015
The train was clean and bed comfortable, the conductor was helpful
- "RENFE Madrid-San Sebastian" Kook Kee w. 13/06/2015
Information on train schedules and update should include English. Renfe staff in San Sebastian spoke good English and went extra mile to help with information. Madrid Chamartin can do with the same. Booking online is very useful for planning our trip. All in all, a very good experience. Many thanks
- "Wonderful staff!" . 14/03/2015
I got the wrong train from San Sebastian, and I ended up in rural Spain... but with the help of the staff on several different trains, I was able to make it to Madrid, and only two hours later than originally scheduled! Even though no one spoke much English, they were exceedingly helpful :)
- "Comfortable and easy" Jennifer c. 26/11/2014
Great well-maintained train, timely, affordable and comfortable!
- "TRAVELING IN SPAIN" Silvia j. 07/11/2014
THE TRAIN MADE A LOT OF PROGRAMMED STOPS BUT WHEN WE GOT THE TICKETS WE HAD THOUGHT THAT WAS A DIRECT TRAIN. ANYWAY THE SCHEDULE WAS PUNTUAL.
- "What we wanted and expected" Daniel c. 02/10/2014
On time, clean, simple, and efficient.
- "Only way to see Spain!" John r. 11/07/2014
We had a great trip from the very beginning to the end! Comfortable, on time and dining cart was great too! My only recommendation for tourists is to take a map of Spain with you so you know where you are when passing through little stations and the surrounding countryside Staff were fabulous and helpful too

- "Great value!" Penny f. 24/05/2014
I was concerned when I first bought my train tickets online, since I received an automated email stating I would get the tickets emailed to me in three days. That did not happen, but as soon as I emailed them, they sent me the tickets right away, which was about 5 or 7 days after. The tickets worked great, had no problems at all. I printed them at home. The price was less than HALF of what raileurope.com was charging!! Not sure what the difference in that company and raileurope-world are, but it was a much better value.

Comfort : Very good Value for money : Very good Convenience : Average TOO SLOW even its mentioned as a "high speed train".
- "Disappointing" Suellen r. 27/10/2013
This train was 1 1/2 hours late arriving in Barcelona. It stopped (not at a station) frequently for long periods at a time during the journey, which we could not understand. The train would no sooner pick up speed after having been stopped for 5 - 15 minutes and then it would slow down and stop again. It was a tedious trip.
- "Great Trip" Vincent k. 19/09/2013
We had an opportunity to travel by rail from San Sebastian to Madrid and wanting to see the country side we decided to take the trip. From the moment we checked in to embarking and disembarking everthing exceeded our expectations. The train trip itself was exceptionally good as it afforded us an opportunity to view a portion of the country and this gave us a good idea of the rest of the country. The train ride was excellent and comfortable. Will definitely use the train in future.
