Kaiserslautern, discover southwestern Germany, its landscapes and its heritage

Kaiserslautern is a middle-size city populated with around 100.000 inhabitants, located in the southwestern part of Germany. Largely destroyed during the 2nd World war, Kaiserslautern is now a modern centre of communication & technology which welcomes a well-known university.

Besides the famous FC Kaiserslautern ’s team, the city is worth the detour and easily reachable by train. Wander around the most lovely place of the city, the St Martin square.

On the Museum Square, admire the beautiful facade of the Pfalzgalerie, a neo-renaissance building housing great collections of paintings and sculptures. Have a glance to the last half-timbered house of the city, the Spinnrädl, a 18th century historic inn. Do not leave without visiting the rests of the old palace built by Frederic Barbarossa back to the 12th century.

Do not miss either the gothic flamboyant collegiate church, considered as the largest lastest gothic building in southwestern Germany. A lot of gardens and parks offer pleasant walks.

  • "Paris weekend"
Rail travel worked well and is a great way to travel in Europe. We were pleased.
  • "Breakfast surprise"
We were very pleasantly surprised by our journey to Kaiserslautern. The first class journey turned out to be more reasonable. Since we are from Canada, train travel is uncommon. The coffee and breakfast gratis was a treat, the seats comfortable, service friendly. The train was timely. All in all good and relaxing.
  • "PAris"
Great comfort and fun. Beats driving!!
  • "Fast train to Paris"
The train trip on 30 December was fast, clean and efficient. Safe too. They were delayed 20 min getting to Paris and about 45 min late returning to Kaiserslautern due to snow and ice. Glad that they chose safety over punctuality! It was the perfect way to travel for a day trip to Paris.
  • "Wonderful!!!"
This was a wonderful train.. Clean, the food was very good and courteous staff. I can't wait for the next time!
  • "Wonderful!"
I had an excellent experience going to and from Paris on the ICE train from Kaiserslautern. The staff was helpful with helping me locate my seat. It was very comfortable and relaxing with lots of leg room.
  • "Trip to Kaiserslautern"
I booked my reservation on line from the US and found it very easy to do. Once I arrived in Paris by plane, I went to the train station and made sure I had the right paper work and what to do on travel day. The information was excellent at the station and made the day of departure very easy. I travel in second class and could not have been more pleased. The seats are very comfortable and the ride excellent. Wish we had this in the US. A two and half ride by train and a six hour drive by car. I am 70 years old and lived in Germany 1969-1971 and went back to visit with a family that my husband and I lived with when in was stationed there for two years. A wonderful experience!!!
  • "incredible ride"
The train and ride was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had extra luggage and needed a taxi. They took care of all that, helped us off with our luggage, wouldn't take a tip. Also the food we got was delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend this train and it is staff. Thank you for a great experience.
  • "Great Price, Comfort, "
The train system is convenient, comfortable, and reliable. The staff is very accommodating and helpful.
  • "France to Germany"
The only problem was with the staff in the service car. They were rude and unprofessional.
  • "Train, Paris to Kaiserslaurn"
Everything ran smoothly for our travel from Paris to visit my son and daughter-in-law in Kaiserslautern, Germany. I wish we had been confident about the level of service we should book to assure two guaranteed seats together. Also, it would have been very helpful to know in advance that we would have lunch provided on the train. All else was very good.
  • "Cost Effective/ Comfortable"
Aside, from arriving at the train station last minute due to getting lost in the Paris Subway system, I had a wonderful easy going trip. My ticket was First, but the food was unexpected and great. A lot of leg room and nice staff.
  • "Paris long weekend"
Easy to book, fast and reliable the TVG was exactly what you would expect from a premier rail service. The return journey on the ICE was good but not equal to the TGV experience. I would and have happily recommended the service to friends.
  • "Good experience."
We traveled for my first time and it was a good experience. Train is on time and coffee is offered during travel. Staff is courteous and professional too.
  • "Extremely convenient!"
Our trip to Paris from Kaiserslautern was really quick and convenient! I bought our tickets online, only way to travel in Europe!
