Arras, a northern France hidden gem

Welcome to Arras, a little 42 000 inhabitants town located in the north of France. Besides the agribusiness side of that city, Arras also lives thanks to tourism and can boast about having an interesting cultural heritage.

Let yourself be tempted by the discovering of the amazing cathedral. This building dedicated to Notre-Dame-and-Saint-Vaast had been erected at the end of the 18th century and will surprise you by its appearance of an ancient greek temple.

Then stroll around the UNESCO listed belfry, from the top of this 15th and 16th century tower, you will feast your eyes with the whole city and its countryside around. From the Grand place to the "Place des Héros", admire the baroque style facades lining just for you.

Do not miss the Vauban citadelle, great example of military architecture, and visit the museum of FIne Arts, housed in the magnificent St Vaast abbey.

  • "no problem to change ticket"
we missed the first TGV and got credited our tickets for the next one - simple and easy - very good customer service!
  • "planes, trains, and automobile"
Great trip, lovely conditions, smooth sailing, perfect way to get from point A to point B! Great staff in Arras for non-French clients
  • "TRIP TO ARRAS"
VERY NICE COULD NOT FIND THE 1ST CLASS CAR ON THE RETURN .OVERALL VERY POSITIVE
  • "Arras trip"
Good. Everything went according to plan
  • "Paris to Arras "
This was my first time ever using the TGV but I have to say it is a great way to travel in Europe. It was very easy for me to book my tickets on line and print them ahead of my travels. I thought 30 euros was a decent price from Paris to Arras. Because of the train schedules however we could not travel directly from CDG Airport to Arras but had to get the train from the Gard du Nord train station which meant a taxi ride after we got off our flight. Train was comfortable and fast and I would use it again.
  • "Train from Lille to Arras"
The TGV from Lille to Arras was fantastic. Comfortable, fast and right on time. My only complaint was that we were unable to extract our e-tickets from the self-service machines at the station using a credit card "sans puce." It was a minor inconvenience that was quickly solved by talking with a "live" person. SNCF has always done a great job.
  • "Arras trip"
A great service - comfortable, fast and on time. Well done and thank you!
  • "Trip to Arras"
Quick and smooth journey clean and comfortable
  • "Trip to Arras"
    Quick and smooth journey
  • "Visit to Vimy"
With so many Canadian Visitors to the Vimy centre from Arras, it would be good to coordinate a shuttle service to the Vimy site... at the present, we have to find the Information Centre and then book a taxi.
  • "Quick trip to Champagne-ville"
I have no complaints about the train service (on time, comfortable, fast). The "print at station" ticketing was very stressful. I was unable to do it myself and even the ticket agent had difficulty finding our reservation even though I had a copy of my receipt and reservation codes. We barely made our train!
